Escape From Tarkov Wipe and Patch Date Locked In—Get Ready for the Update!
Battlestate Games has confirmed the release date for the upcoming Escape From Tarkov wipe and patch 0.16.0.0, set for December 26. This major update brings new weapons, map changes, and engine upgrades, along with exciting gameplay changes. Players can expect downtime for installation but should prepare for a fresh Tarkov experience.
Battlestate Games has announced the release date for the upcoming Escape From Tarkov wipe and patch, confirming that it will arrive before the end of this week.
According to an official announcement on the Escape From Tarkov social media channels, the next wipe will occur tomorrow, December 26. This will coincide with the release of patch 0.16.0.0, which will also be installed on the same day.
Installation of patch 0.16.0.0 will begin at 7:00 AM GMT / 2:00 AM EST on December 26, with an estimated duration of approximately eight hours. This means the patch and wipe may be playable as early as 3:00 PM GMT / 10:00 AM EST. However, during the installation, neither Escape From Tarkov nor Escape From Tarkov Arena will be available, so players will need to find other activities to occupy their time.
There had been some speculation in recent days that the wipe might not occur on a Thursday, as is typically the case. With the end-of-wipe events taking a slightly different direction this year, some speculated that the wipe could be delayed until the weekend. However, the launch of the fire sale event earlier today has effectively confirmed the wipe will happen tomorrow. This gives players just a few more hours to enjoy some affordable builds before everything resets.
When the wipe occurs tomorrow, though delays may push the time later than 3:00 PM GMT based on past experiences, players can expect several exciting additions. Gun enthusiasts will likely be eager to find the new weapons, including the impressive Sako TRG M10 bolt-action sniper rifle, which uses .338 Lapua ammo and could one-shot other PMCs with precise aim.
Additionally, the Customs map will receive a rework, which, while not radically redesigned, will include a visual overhaul. Notably, the large warehouse near the mechanic’s shop will be unlocked, allowing access to what was previously an inaccessible area.
Other key changes in Escape From Tarkov patch 0.16.0.0 include an upgrade to the Unity 2022 engine, the introduction of a new extraction type, and a revamped recoil system. However, the highly anticipated full release of Tarkov is not expected until 2025.
