Purdue University Pioneers Cutting-Edge Programs in Indianapolis for Fall 2025
Purdue University expands its presence in Indianapolis with new undergraduate and graduate programs launching in fall 2025, including actuarial science, integrated business and engineering, sports engineering, and more. These innovative programs aim to strengthen industry connections, enhance STEM opportunities, and empower future leaders in Indiana’s capital city.

Purdue University is broadening its world-class higher education offerings in Indiana’s capital city by introducing new undergraduate and graduate programs, set to begin in fall 2025.
As we expand and refine our academic portfolio, we aim to leverage Indianapolis’ dynamic entrepreneurial ecosystem, said Jeffrey Karpicke, the James V. Bradley Professor of Psychological Sciences and associate vice provost for Indianapolis. This includes fostering industry partnerships that lead to internships, research collaborations, and experiential learning opportunities to bolster central Indiana’s STEM workforce.
Starting in fall 2025, Purdue’s Indianapolis campus will offer an array of programs across multiple colleges and units, including
Bachelor of Science in Actuarial Science Bachelor of Science in Integrated Business and Engineering Certificate in Entrepreneurship and Innovation Master of Science in Interdisciplinary Engineering – Sports Engineering Concentration Master of Science in Chemical Engineering – Pharmaceutical Engineering Concentration Master of Science in Software Engineering This latest expansion includes several programs from Purdue’s West Lafayette campus, such as its top-ranked actuarial science program. Recognized as the No. 1 actuarial science program in the nation by CollegeChoice.Net, this rigorous curriculum encompasses mathematics, probability, economics, data analytics, and statistics.
The launch of Purdue’s actuarial science program in Indianapolis is a major milestone, enhancing access to premier actuarial education in the state’s economic hub, said Lucy Flesch, Purdue’s Frederick L. Hovde Dean of the College of Science. This growth will foster stronger industry ties, create more internship and employment opportunities, and empower students to excel in this high-demand field.
Also expanding to Indianapolis is the Integrated Business and Engineering program from the Mitch Daniels School of Business, which debuted in fall 2021. The program’s presence in the city will strengthen corporate collaborations, providing students with the sought-after skills required to lead in business and technology innovation.
We are thrilled to offer the Integrated Business and Engineering program to a new cohort on the Indianapolis campus, said Jim Bullard, the Dr. Samuel R. Allen Dean of the Daniels School. This program’s rapid growth reflects Purdue’s global reputation in engineering and STEM, while preparing students to navigate the intersection of business and technology.
Joining other Indianapolis-exclusive programs — such as the nationally recognized motorsports engineering program, the groundbreaking themed entertainment design program, and the interior architecture program — is the Sports Engineering Professional Master’s Program. Housed within the Ray Ewry Sports Engineering Center, this program exemplifies interdisciplinary innovation.
The Sports Engineering Professional Master’s Program is distinctive, said Eckhard Groll, the William E. and Florence E. Perry Head of Mechanical Engineering. It’s an advanced engineering degree that spans biomechanics, materials science, management, and the legal dimensions of the sports industry. Indianapolis, with its professional teams, the NCAA headquarters, and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, provides the ideal setting for this program.
As Purdue continues to integrate academic excellence with industry-driven innovation, the university is accepting proposals for new Indianapolis-based programs on a rolling basis, with a formal call for proposals scheduled for January.
